NCSBC notes: fundraising help needed

*We need your help with the NC Science Blogging Conference.* You can see from the main page of that conference wiki that Bora and I have rounded up a good group of sponsors for the event. But we need a few more, especially an organization to sponsor the lunch for the 150 attendees. Please help us find a corporate, institutional or individual sponsor for our conference. Here are three specific ways a sponsor can support the event: * Donate $1500 for the lunch. * Donate $1000 for the travel and lodging expenses of our guest speakers. * Make a cash donation of any size for use on other expenses (such as publicity, supplies, printing). If you can help with this, please contact me as soon as possible.

Meetup in Chapel Hill

Tonight should have been a Chapel Hill Bloggers Meetup, but I was swamped these past few weeks and didn’t get the library conference room reserved or an announcement out. Sorry about that. Looking ahead, these are dates for meetups and other blogging events in Chapel Hill in January: * Meetup Thurs, Jan 4 at 6pm at 3CUPS (this is a changed location: let’s return to 3CUPS, which is quieter than Open Eye and now has wifi) * Meetup Mon, Jan 15 at 7pm at Chapel Hill Library * Blogging101 skills session Thurs, Jan 18 at 2pm at UNC’s Health Science Library (register for the NC Science Blogging Conference to sign up for this) * NC Science Blogging Conference Sat, Jan 20 from 9:30am to 5pm in UNC’s Murphey Hall

Hello, goodbye

Looks like we’re soon to lose our talented friend Roy to the sunny West Coast. I hate to see him go. A student-run community news site is up at CarrboroCommons.org (I hear Brian advised the group).
